From Goblin Island To Elredd, Oglesby S Back (Session 39)
October 12, 2024
Summary
They spent a day and night with Shabadoo and the other Sea Goblins on the island weed. They were very helpful in understanding a little about where they were. They found out that to the west was the mainland area. Highport and Elredd were two coastal towns within a few days rowing distance. Elredd, the group remembered, was mentioned a few times along the way in Faerun. Though no one knew of that city, it had been mentioned several times. The difference in stars and names of cities they'd never heard of made them certain that they had travelled to another land, possibly another world or plane of existence. They Goblins reienforced that with a lack of knowledge about the cities of Faerun.
They sat around that night and told stories about where they'd come from and then turned in. The next morning they awoke and did a lot of healing. The Goblins had taken time to outfit their rowboat with a sail. This would save them a lot of time on their journey to Elredd. The Goblins wanted a way to breath underwater so they could be true Sea Goblins. Elenor showed them how to cast a spell that would allow them limited time being able to breath underwater. They were so excited. Finally the group stocked up on some supplies and set out. The Goblins had told them how to follow the stars and had even showed them a crude map of where they were ad where they were going. Throughout the course of the trip, Pyreece was able to restore more health. They arrived in Elredd fully healed two days later.
They made their way to an inn called the Rudder. They got some food and settled in. Brandy began asking questions about Glyrtheil. She'd planned a story where they were sent by Swagg Belly to find her because of some problem at the mines. Many rounds of arguments and a fight later, they basically learned that she'd left here about three weeks ago aboard the ship called the Lotus. She was headed for the mines. It took a lot to get this information. One of the sources of the information was Ragnar, a virtual twin to a man they fought and killed in Faerun called Agnar.
Kipp noticed a red headed guy at the bar doing some sort of hand signal and checking their party out to see if he got a response. Kipp had heard of thieves cant and finally decided that it was likely what was being used. He approached the man and tried to strike up a conversation but the man threw out a few insults, apparently trying not to appear too friendly. Under his breath, he told Kipp to go outside.
Kipp went outside in the open air area of the tavern and waited. Knocker came out and headed out of the area. Ragnar was a bully and thug and picked on Knocker as he left. That's where Kipp heard Knocker's name. He left the area and they met up out of sight of the tavern. Kipp learned that Dame Gold was likely sold in Highport. He also learned about some weird cult like group that bought two kids from Knocker which the seemed to have fed to some creatures outside of town. He also learned that under the docks was the thieves guild and where Rowyn and Ragnar conducted a lot of their slaving business.
Kipp wanted to know a lot more about the cult group. Knocker took him North out of town to a point near the woods where a game trail led off the main road. He explained how to find the plateau where he met the representatives of this cult. He reconned that the cult's hideout was nearby as the representatives didn't appear to be fit enough to have travelled over the much more difficult terrain out here. Kipp returned, spotting some temples on the way back. He rejoined the group at the Rudder and they headed to an inn he'd spotted along the way to spend the night. They rested and the next morning they went shopping. Brandy found a very nice set of armor called Armor of the Deep Night! It cost a lot of what they had in inventory in trade plus another 8,000 gold. Pyreece found a replacement +1 Flail.
Next they went to the temple of Saint Cuthbert where the High Priest, Sir Nevil, offered to resurrect Oglesby for 5,000 gold. Kipp paid that and about 30 minutes later, their good friend came out of a back room dressed in the robes of Saint Cuthbert. They gave him back everything they could but most of his money was gone. Looking at Brandy's new armor, he'd guessed he knew where that gold went. They went back to the shop and replaced the clothes he lost and the armor.
It was there that this session ended.

Detail
They decided that their health was such that they could wait for a full rest to restore their spell capabilities and use the spells to heal up. The Goblins didn't seem to be a threat. Actually, they appeared to be very nice. The Goblins seemed as curious about them as the party was of the Goblins. None of the party drew any weapons. One of the Goblins stepped forward and placing his hand on his chest, he introduced himself as Shabadoo, leader of the Sea Goblins. He asked who led their group. Kipp stated, we don't have a leader. That seemed to confuse them a little but they accepted it. Kipp asked where they were from. Shabadoo pointed off in a direction and said very far away. Since the party was disoriented, they were unsure what direction they were pointing. Seeing the misty spot in the distance and knowing they traveled North from there, it appeared he was pointing West.
Shabadoo also announced that they were peaceful Goblins to which Kipp replied, "We are also peaceful!". Shabadoo pointed out the weapons that the party carried and asked if they were strong. Kipp said, "Maybe!". Brandy jumped in with the question on the parties mind, "How did you get all this stuff on this weed?". Shabadoo pointed out a ship, farely well hidden as he said, Boat! Many trips!". Kipp asked how far land was. Shabadoo told him maybe two days. Then he looked at the rowboat that the oprty arrived in and said, "Three days?". Kipp asked, "Why are you out in the middle of the sea?".
Shabadoo answered, "We once part of angry goblin tribe in the Gnarley Forest as people call it. 'The Bloody Teeth' tribe. All we do everyday is fight other Goblins or orcs, hobgoblins, humans and other creatures that always try to kill us. Chief HuffenFluff want to control whole forest. He want to kill things too. Not Shabadoo. Me no like fighting. Me tired of fighting. HuffenFluff wanted to control sea also. Me volunteered to explore. This my team. We explore oh yes... but we no go back. Found these floating islands.. Use stars to know where we is. We build this. Peace.. and food.. quiet most times. Storms scary but we reinforce island to be strong. If island go away, we find another."
Kipp asked, "So where do you get your food?". Shabadoo stated that they get fish from sea and grow food on island.
We learn to swim and fish. One day we be sea creatures ourselves in the ocean where it is cool and peaceful. Trying to breathe underwater hard. We still working on that. And there are nasty fish. Who eat goblins. We only like fish we eat. Not eat us. We swim fast though. (He shows you rudimentary gloves and footwear that resemble broad fins).
Brandy was fairly impressed.
--We see misty place sometimes. We stays away. Ships sail there some. Sometimes sink there. Sometimes not.
Many islands nearby, You start your own home. We help! You be neighbors. Strong neighbors. You help us we help you. Can you breathe underwater?
Looking at Audra and Pyreece, and their shiny heavy armor, he said, "You sink!". He told them that if you fell through, they would sink. In looking around, they spotted areas where the leaf the island was based on was torn, places where it would be easy for them to fall through. Pyreece and Audra decided it was time to remove their armor and put it in the bag of holding.
Looking around, the party saw a garden area. The Goblins had brought in dirt and made gardens.
Brandy asked if they'd seen Humans that had been brought here as slaves. They had not.
Audra asked Shabadoo if he'd ever heard of the Human city of Calimport. Shabadoo had never heard of it. They'd never heard of it. He did mention the city of Highport. The members of the party looked at each other but no one had heard of Highport. They remembered a city that someone with the initials S. K. had mentioned in a note to Glyrtheil. It was Elredd. Kipp asked if Shabadoo had heard of it. He had. When asked how far away it was, he said, "Two days!". Then looking at their boat and amended it to "Three days, maybe four!". When asked the direction, Shabadoo pointed West again. He said, "Wait!", as he ran off to one of the buildings. He returned with a rudimentary map. It showed a coastline and several cities.
On the North side of the map was the Sea of Gearnat. The Southern waters were called the Azure Sea. These names were not familiar. Elredd was part of the Woolly Bay along the Wild Coast. On the map was box with a name printed within, Pomarj Peninsula. At the top left corner of this box was a hexagon marking. Shabadoo pointed to it and said, "That is roughly where we are!". Kipp asked about sailing to a closer spot of land and walking to Elredd. Shabadoo pointed out that any point along the coastline was about the same distance as going to Elredd. Then he said, "You can go North! There is a big city up there, maybe four days away. It is called Greyhawk!". Again, none of them had heard of it before. It seemed the mist took them to another world.
Shabadoo was shocked to hear that they had never heard of Greyhawk. They asked Shabadoo if they could stay for a while and rest. He told them they could. Then he asked for stories. They liked to hear stories. They came up with a few stories from Faerun. They eventually mentioned the Goblins they saves from the mines. Then they told them about the battle with the Cannibals. Shabadoo tells them how they came together as they built the team to search the sea. They also told the party about battles before they created their team. They told them about invading Lizard Men areas or Orc areas. Appadrently, the Suss Forest, where they were from, especially the forest South of them was full of those creatures. Orcs, Goblins, and nasties everywhere.
He told them that they were a big tribe. Chief HuffenFluff always wanted to grow the tribe. Those like Shabadoo wondered why. They had good land and farms and we didn't want to fight. All Chief HuffenFluff wanted to do was fight. When they had the opportunity to go to the sea and conquer it, they saw that as an opportunity to make their own way. They formed their team and set out. They like living this way. With the exception of the storms, they don't have much trouble. They go into the water and spear fish. Sometimes they get attacked by aggressive sea creatures. As soon as they can figure out how to breath underwater, they would be able to defend themselves. When asked where they were from, they said South of Gnarly Wood and into the Northern part of the Suss Forest. Gnarly Wood was just above Suss Forest and West of Elredd.
The party asked Shabadoo if he knew anything about the mist and the slavers that they were after. They knew about the mist. Ships go there, sometimes sink there, sometimes don't. They stay away from them. The mist is always there. They took some fish and cooked them up and ate them. Shabadoo and the other Goblins talk about the stars. They learned about some of the constellations that they sail by. They point out the constellations to follow to get to Elredd. They can't tell them a lot about the Human cities but did tell them that in the area of Highport, the Orcs are very aggressive. There was even talk of attacks where the Orcs tried to take Highport but they haven't succeeded so far.
They told stories through the night and then a couple of the huts were cleared for them to sleep in. They weren't too bad. They slept through the night without a watch. The next morning, Pyreece cast a full load of healings. Many were still way down but they were better than they were. When they woke up, Shabadoo grabbed Kipp and took him to the parties rowboat. They had worked on it over night and given it a sail. Shabadoo said, "We fix! Now you two days from Elredd!". They showed Kipp and them how to use a sail.
They had one more meal and set out for Elredd. They even precooked some to take with them to eat along the way. They showed them their gold, offering to pay them for the extra food supplies but they weren't interested in the gold. They did look at it and thought it was interesting looking as it was different than the gold being used in the world. They showed them their gold and it was different. Still gold but the images on it were different. Elenor offered to barter for the food, offering to bring them back to ability to breath underwater in the form of a potion. Shabadoo was excited to here about that. He asked if they could make it. Elenor told him it would take someone with magic capability. He pointed out Gilf, their Shaman. She can cast magic.
Pyreece asked Gilf if she could heal the dead, bring them, back to life. She said she couldn't do that. She can heal though. She told him that the great Shaman of their tribe could do it. He is back in the Gnarly Wood. Shabadoo asked that they not tell anyone that they are out here. They agreed that they would keep their secret. Audra asked about their gold. They had about 100 gold pieces. Audra offered to trade their gold for the Goblin's gold, so they had currency that wouldn't stand out as being from Faerun. They agreed to do that and agreed to melt down gold into faceless coins to use in Elredd. Brandy looked at the image on the coin and saw that it was from Greyhawk. It had a coat-of-arms on it.
Elenor gave their Shaman some training on the third level spell for breathing underwater. It has an hour or so time limit on it but they would be able to stay under much longer. After that, they set out on the boat for Elredd.
They set out on a two day trip to Elredd. Brandy and Kipp felt bad during the trip, but made it without any major issues. Pyreece cast a few more heals along the way. They arrived mostly healed. On the evening of the second day, they saw lights in the distance from a city. They eventually made it to a port. They tied off the boat and stepped out onto the docks. Pyreece and Audra pulled their armor out and put it back on. They made their way down the docks to the first buildings. One was a tavern called The Broken Rudder. Brandy asked a man on the street what town they were in. He tried hitting on her until he saw the rest of the party. He reluctantly backed down and told her they were in Elredd.
They headed inside to have a drink. There was a open air area with tables and chairs. There was a door that led to the inside of the tavern. Most of the people in the area were dock workers. They entered the tavern and found a table in the back. People didn't seem to pay much attention to them. They got some ale and a little food. They discussed what to say to get people to talk to them. The lady brought back some stews and ale. She asked if there was anything else she could do for them. Brandy spoke up and asked if she knew anything about someone named Glyrtheil. Brandy added, "She's supposed to meet us here!". The serving girl thought for a moment and said, "That name doesn't ring a bell to me! I can ask about though!". Brandy added, "Swagg Belly is going top be pissed!". She asked, "Who?". Brandy said, "Ah, just one of the guys that sent us!".
The serving girl went to the barkeep and asked about Glyrtheil and he didn't look to happy about it and finally asked, "Who's asking?". She pointed back at the adventuring party. The barkeep spoke to anpother man who came around the corner and headed over to the table. He asked, "You have a message for Glyrtheil?". Brandy said, "We do!". The man responded by telling them that they hadn't seen her in a few days. Brandy asked where he'd seen her last. He told her, "On a ship!'. Brandy asked, "Which ship? Going where?". He told her that she was on the Lotus. He looked at everyone at the table and said, "You know the Lotus, right?". Brandy said, "It's just a damn ship as far as I'm concerned. Should we know it?". He asked them who they were and what business they have with Glyrtheil. Brandy told him that their business with Glyrtheil is their own and Swagg Belly sent us.
The man responded, "Swagg Belly! I'll pass the message on that they were looking for Glyrtheil! I hope you have a good day!", as he headed back to the bar. He spoke quietly with the barkeep again. Brandy muttered to the group, "I might have gotten our asses into some hot water!". They discussed the slavers and that they were Orcs. That they'd killed a lot of Orcs at the mine. Brandy thought it would be good to say that there had been a problem at the mine and that it's for her ears only. Brandy looked around and didn't see anyone in general paying extra attention to them except the barkeep and a little guy at the center of the bar with red hair. The barkeep speaks to the guy and the man with the red hair looked over at them a few times. It appeared they were having a conversation about Brandy and her crew.
Finally a large bearded fellow came up the back stairs. He actually looked very familiar to them. It was one of the three men they run into camping near the river when they were trying to follow the boat that sailed from Dame Gold's residence. It's the big ass fighter form that group. But he is dead. They'd killed him. He looked in there direction but didn't seem to recognize them. Brandy was confused. Audra thought he might be a twin brother of the man they'd been forced to kill. He comes over to the table and looks them over before saying, "So you've got a message for Glyrtheil? You're in the wrong damn place.'. He added, "This is my territory!". Brandy asked, "And who are you?". The man replied, "I'm Ragnar! Who the fuck are you?". They remembered that the guy they'd killed was Agnar.
Brandy said, "We come from the mine! There's a problem! We need to talk to her!". Ragnar replied, "Well ain't that a fine howdy do because she's supposed to be at the mine!". Brandy said, "Bitch wasn't there when we were there!". Ragnar insisted that she wasn't her but was at the mine. Audra said, "I thought she was on the boat called the Lotus!". He asked where we'd heard that and Brandy pointed out the man at the bar that had come to talk to them before. Ragnar went to the man and grabbed him up saying, "What the fuck did you tell them?". The man replied and a clearly scared tone of voice, "Nothing boss, I didn't tell them nothing!". Ragnar told him that he'd told them about the Lotus. The scared man said, "Sure yeah, she was one the Lotus going back to the quarry!". Ragnar tossed him aside and returned to the group saying, "He talks to damn much! … Yeah, she took the Lotus to the quarry. That was weeks ago!".
Audra said, "Well, we were told she'd be here!". Ragnar asked, "Who told you that?". Audra answered. "Swagg Belly!". Ragnar had nothing good to say about him. He asked, "What business did you have with Swagg Belly?". Audra said, "Again, there was as problem at the mine and we were told to speak only to her about it!". Ragnar said, "I don't know what shit you guys are up to, but I know your faces now! Brandy said, "An I know yours. You look like a your brother, the one that's fucking Swagg Belly!". Ragnar sweeps off the table in one motion dumping everything into Brandy's lap. He said, "You got a big mouth for such a little bitch!". Brandy said, "I have a bigger sword!". She jumped up and pulled her sword. Ragnar said, "This will be fun! Five against one I see. Is that how you fuckers operate?". Brandy said, "I'm sure you have more scum bags running around. Her behind you!". He said, "Is that the way you want it?". Brandy responded, "That's the way you'll get it!".
A fight broke out. Brandy jumped up on the table and took a swipe at Ragnar and missed. Kipp said, "Brandy, do we really need to do this?". Brandy said, "I've got this!". Kipp stepped back a little keeping an eye on the rest of the people in the establishment. Audra moved closer but did not draw a weapon. She said, "Let's keep this fair, try not to kill each other!". Ragnar called out, "Any of these scallywags jump in, you fucking kill em! Right now, it's just me and the smart ass!". He tried to hit Brandy but missed her as well. People started moving in to watch the fight. Pyreece stood up and said, "We really don't have time for this.". Ragnar took another swing at Brandy hitting her. He definitely hit pretty hard.
On the next round, Elenor and Kipp stood by watching to make sure Brandy doesn't getr too hurt. Audra stepped up and pushed her way between them and called out, "Stop this crap! We don't need this!". She was able to shove them both back away from each other, interposing herself between the two. Brandy said, "What the shit Audra? I can take him!". Audra responded, "We aren't here to kill people! Just stop! I understand you like to have fun doing these things but we really don't have time for this!". Brandy replied, "Damn it!". A couple of the other folk moved in a little closer seeing Ragnar get pushed back. She didn't really strike him so there was that.
Ragnar was a little impressed with how strong Audra was in pushing him back. He pulled his weapon back and growled. Audra said, "If we have this fight, then we'll have to buy new furniture for this place and we really don't have the money for that!". Pyreece moved up to join Audra without drawing a weapon. Brandy sheathes her sword and said, "Ah shit guys!", As she goes over and sits down. Audra turned to Ragnar and said, "I'm sorry, we've been on the sea for quite some time now. This is the first dry land we've seen for several days. We're all a little anxious. Ragnar put up his sword, crossed his arms and looked at Audra and said, I suggest you shove off in the morning and we don't see ya again in the Rudder! We may not be so friendly next time!".
About that time, another figure popped out from behind the bar shouting, "What the hell! Ragnar, what the fuck! What have I told you about this kind of stuff?". Ragnar replied, "You need to shut your mouth old man! Remember your place!". The other man said, "You can't be tearing up my bar!". Ragnar said, "Keep an eye on that bunch over their!", gesturing at Brandy and her party. He told the other guys around him, "Watch those fuckers!". He stormed off and went outside. Pyreece healed some of the damage Brandy took.
The owner came over and told them he didn't want any fighting in his establishment. "Take your fights to the dock! There's plenty of room out there!". Audra told him that they had no intention of fighting in his place. As he started to walk away she asked him about Glyrtheil. He told her that he didn't keep up with Glyrtheil. The last he'd seen her, she left a few weeks ago. They discussed that apparently Glyrtheil left here a few weeks ago to go to the mines. She had already left there when we were there so where is she now?
Kipp notices the red headed guy at the bar had his hand down by his side and he was making little gestures with it. He looked over at the party to see if anyone responded. When no one responded, he went back to drinking. Kipp didn't recognize it but knew there was a thieves cant and knew whatever this was, it wasn't a spell. It stood to reason that it was a thieves cant. He finally got up and went up to the bar. He offered to buy him a drink. The man looked at the guys on either side of him at the bar and said, "No thanks half breed.". Kipp asked if he was trying to tell him something a while ago. He responded saying, "I don't talk to pieces of shit like you!". Under his breath though, he whispered, "Go outside!". Kipp said, "Okay, have it your way!". Then Kipp walked back out the door of the bar.
Kipp went outside and found a spot to stand across from the building. Ragnar was outside and gave hum the stink eye. One of the other men left the bar and as he was exiting the open area, Ragnar stuck out a foot and tripped him. Told him, "Have a nice trip Knocker, you piece of shit!". Knocker put his head down and left. Kipp left the open area and saw Knocker down by the dock. He followed Knocker until they were out of sight. Knocker went to one side of some boxes while Kipp remained on the other side. Anyone casually seeing them might not think they were talking to each other.
Knocker told him that the group talked too much. Kipp let him know that they needed information. Knocker told him that they didn't look like the kind of folk that she'd have associated with. Kipp told him that they weren't He asked Kipp why they were looking for her. Kipp told him that she'd done some bad things and they were trying to set things right. Apparently Knocker was shaking pretty hard. He appeared pretty nervous. He finally said, "I'm going to tell you, things are getting too damn raw for me, money or no. Transport business. I move things you know! That's what I do, I move things. Crazy fuckoing religious folk trying to summon shit don't sit right with me.".
Knocker added, "A few days ‘go a couple of kids. Fresh faced little bastards. Looks I don’t pay no mind most of the time. I just take packages to buyers and such. But these cats.. no.. They didn’t think I saw. Some weird pendant they wear.. or the entourage that was in the woods. I don’t know what the fuck they were. Like people you know.. well not so much.. fangs.. diseased looking flesh that looked like it was barely hangin on. Lepers.. Undead.. I didn’t wants to get no closer. They looked the kids over.. stripped them down right there in front of me. Gave ‘em a real insepction you know.. Looking at the skin, the eyes, their bits. Then like that handed me a bag o coin and took the children to them things in the woods. They only cried out for a second then was quiet as they moved away in the dark. I think those kids were as good as dead. They said things like ‘Ooze will be pleased’ and ‘Both are suitable for the summoning’.. It was too late for me to do anything. I just ran away as fast as I could. You know afore they would think me suitable or some shit. Rowynn is going too far man. Her creepy dog, then those creepy slavers, and that shit in the woods was the last straw. If you’re thinkin you can stop it, I’m telling you get your arses out of here. Greyhawk has lots of opportunities for cats like you.".
Kipp asked, "But what about the slavers! We want to take care of them and get the slaves back.". Knocker responded, "Slaving is usually Ragnar or Rowyn or both. Transport and such. New recruits come in from Hardby, Safeton, Welkwood, Celene and get processed. Word is they found a gateway to another realm or something. May be somethin to it. Those kids talked about shit I ain’t never heard of. Darrow Mar… Some dame made of Gold.. Some battle and siege from the Forest of Mirror and Marching Mountains. Most goes shipped out. You know booked trips to Highprt. Others put on the block here and sold. Like those kids.".
Kipp asked, "This Dame Gold they were talking about. Where'd they take her?". Kipp explained that the dame made of gold was just a woman named Dame Gold. He asked Knocker if they took her to Highport? He didn't know where she went, but most likely. The higher value slaves were usually taken to Highport. Kipp asked if Knocker could take him to the place in the woods where the kidds were taken and the creatures were. He told Kipp that if these cats knew he was talking to Kipp, he'd be dead. Kipp askefd if he could at least tell him where this happened. Knocker said that he could take him a little ways and point it out but he wasn't going near those people again.
Kipp asked, "If we were of need of a ship to take us to Highport, is there a way you couod get us there unseen?". Knocker said, "I ain't going anywhere near Highport. That's a shithole of a town.". Kipp asked if he could get us close so we could walk in. He told them they could go by land. "The only ships I know of that go there, they don't want to be on, unless they want to be slaves. Guron would give you a nice trip.", Knocker added. The talk returned to the weird cult fuckers and Knocker pointing out where that happened. They left right then with Kipp following way behind.
They headed North out of town. They passed some nice churches and a pretty nice Inn. At least it was pretty large. It took a good 45 minutes to navigate to the north side of the city. When they go to this end of tow, Knocker made some more of the hand signals here and there, along the way, at some other people. They exited town and moved down a dirt road Northward. The pass through some farm lands before reaching some dense woodland. About three of four miles out of town, the was a boulder with what looked like a game trail that moved up towards the woods. He told Kipp to follow this trail for about seven or eight miles. "You'll start to climb up an escarpment. To me the trail is marked pretty well. I don't think you'll have trouble following it but I'm so used to it. I don't think it will throw you. He described a couple of creek crossings and other markers. He said, you go about seven or eight miles going over a couple of creeks crossings, you come to an escarpment, not very hig, maybe about ten feet. You can navigate through the rocks, it's not very steap. Once you crest that, you come to a plateau sort of area, farely wooded, lots of rocks and downed trees, stuff like that. That's usually where I meet them. I don't think they come far. These guys, some are kind of fat, not in the best of shape. I don't think they're hiking miles and miles to come find me. I think where ever they hide out is somewhere near there. Just probably two hundred feet beyond them is a fairly steep escarpment. Those fat bastards aren't coming down that thing. I', guessing they have some sort of cave entrance somewhere near there that they come from. They probably leave tracks. You could probably find them. By the way, sorry about the Half-Elf shit. I couldn't care less but I had to cover my tracks.".
Kipp said, "I appreciate it! Where can I find you if I need more information?". Knocker replied, "I hope you never find me again! I'm trying to get the hell out of here. If you want more information on the slaving stuf that's going on, That's more Ragnar or Rowyn, or both. Rowyn.. she’s under the docks.. where the thieves guild is, been down there a few times. I ain’t going back. It's the hideout of the Lotus Dragons. (I hear tale to a passage from the Rudder, but the one I know of is the Undertaker shop next door. Nemian’s an odd one, but he knows to look the other way for the Dragons)". Kipp asked, "We have a friend of ours thazt did not survive the trip here. We need to resurrect him. Do you know of a place to do that? Maybe a temple or some such place?". "Knocker said, "I don't go to those places. There are healing temples. I don't know what they do!". Maybe the temple to Heironeous, Saint Cuthbert, Celestian, or Obad-Hai. I know very little about that suff." Kipp tells him that our friend was a thief. He would have understood the thieves cant, but I've only seen it enough to realize that's likely what it was. Knocker said, "It shows. I've helped all I can help you.".
Knocker said, "You don't know my name! I'm getting the hell out of here! I'd like to see these guys in the woods get their comeuppance. I dojn't know what they are about. Slaving is one thing, sacrificing is another.". Kipp replied, "I agree!". Kipp left and made his way back to town. He looked for the temples as he headed back so he could find them later. He spotted several large temples. He saw the temples to Heironeous, Saint Cuthbert, Ehlonna, Celestian, and Obad-Hai. As he gets back to the tavern, he saw that a lot of the people had thinned out. It was late, maybe 11:30. He gave his friends a look like don't ask me anything. Kipp said, "I found an inn to spend the night!". They left the Rudder and made their way to the Inn. Once in the inn, Kipp explains what happened to him and what he'd learned. Brandy said, "So we have the freaks in the woods, or the guild and the slavers under the docks.". Audra said, "The thieves guikd would be very dangerous without Oglesby.". Kipp said, "That's why I looked for a temple so we can possibly resurrect him." Kipp also explained that Dame Gold was possibly sold off in Highport.". Brandy said, "That's a trail to follow! Which of the three evils do we want to address?". Kipp said, "We should get Oglesby back and then maybe he could approach the thieves guild.".
They got some rest! Audra, Kipp, and Elenor each took a watch. The next morning, they set out to shop. It was an overcast day and damp out. The shop they found had some so-so stuff but nothing too exciting. They offfered to sell him some stuff. The +1 Bronze Plate armor was firdst. He didn't have the funds to be able to give them what it was worth. Maybe someone in Greyhawk could afford something like this. He could offer 3,000 for it but he told them they'd probably get twice that for it in Greyhawk. He offered 1,200 for the Broad Sword. She sold it, then got 350 gold for a dqgger +1. The Tower Shield +1 he offered 1,000 for it but told them they could probably probably get twice that much in Greyhawk. Brandy asked about his private stock, the good stuff he had for special customers. He said he had a suit of armor called Armor of the Deep Night. It is +3 Studded Leather with some additional abilities. It goes for about 15,000. Brandy was very interested in it. Brandy had 4,484 gold and she held Oglesby's 5,292 gold. They traded the Bronze Plate and Tower Shield plus 8,000 gold for the Armor of the Deep Night.
Pyreece asked about a magical Flail. He had a +1 Flail. She bought that for 1,500 gold. They left for the temple of Saint Cuthbert. They learned that he was the god of forthrightness, common sense, wisdom, seal, honesty, truth, and discipline. They met Sir Nevil, the High Priest of Saint Cuthbert. Pyreece donated 100 gold up front. Pyreece explained that a member of the group had fallen and wanted to know if they would be able to restore him. Sir Nevil said, "Most certainly. What is the condition of the remains?". Brandy responded, "Hamburger!". Pyreece pulled out the remains of Oglesby. Sir Nevil was a little taken aback by the condition of the corps, now a few days old. He said, "There are three forms of restoration. A simple raise dead will not work as he would not be healed and would die immediately upon completion of the spell. A resurrection would fully restore him. The other option is reincarnation. It's considerably less expensive.". They asked for the price to resurrect him. He told them 5,000 gold. Kipp offered up the gold and the priest and a couple of acolytes went into a priuvate camber and sealed it off.
Some time later, a resurrected Oglesby exited the chamber. He was dressed in the robes of Saint Cuthbert. They returned a lot of his items to him. Brandy and Oglesby had words as they usually did. Oglesby noted the new armor that Brandy was sporting. Even though they go at each other, it was obvious to the others that Brandy was relieved. They thanked the priests. They headed back to the adventurers shop and purchased new armor and clothes. The armor was +1 Leather.
This is where they stopped.
