Letter To Ragnar Little Rascals (Session 43)
November 16, 2024
Summary
They started this session finishing the fight against Ragnar's group. Ragnar was already dead and Audra had just teleported away from a group of 5 of his men. She was attempting to get into a better situation where she and Pyreece could fight back to back. That would limit the number of combatants that they would have to face. Elenor saw this as an opportunity to use her Fireball spell, and use it she did. She was able to capture the five men that no longer had Audra surrounded. She killed one and severely injured the other 4. This really changed the pitch of the battle.
Elenor painted a target on herself with that move and was suddenly targeted by the remaining four charred thugs. They charged at her. She avoided their initial assault and drank a potion of flying. This allowed her to sored into the air and away from them. All of this action brought their Mage out of hiding. He sent a magic missile at her. Audra finished off her closest attacker and the ran to face the mage. At about the same time, Brandy finished off the last humans she was fighting, or should I say, using as practice dummies, as they didn't stand a chance against her. She moved quickly to face the mage.
The mage lost two of his four mirror images quickly while escaping. Once out of range, he appeared to disappear. They were unsure if he'd teleported or gone invisible. They finished off the rest of the thugs and then Brandy searched the area for the mage. Audra searched the northern area for Glyrthiel but didn't find her. Kipp searched the area for tracks but there were just too many tracks to make out hers and find her. They searched the bodies of their attackers, especially Ragnar. He had four potions and they found a fifth amongst the others. They couldn't readily identify any of the potions except for one that matched the potion they'd made for the Goblins living on the giant leaf. It was a Potion of Water Breathing. Ragnar also had nice plate mail armor, a shield, and a nice long sword. They found a couple of other nice short swords as well. They also found a note. This is what it said:
Ragnar,
This group has damaged our operation at Darkshelf. Fortunately, the cargo there was not discovered. After one of their members was slain, the villains fled the mine by sea. The attached description is from Glyrthiel who observed much of their activity once they got into the mine. The Lords are aware of them now but have not issued any directives yet.
There is credible evidence that they are seeking after one or more of their own and that they have some awareness of an operation in Elredd. Keep an eye out for them or anyone asking too many questions. Glyrthiel will rendezvous with you to assist in identification and capture.
Yes, Capture! Do your best not to kill them if possible. If you locate them, take Hazzard and a stout group of fighters. I will even send along Dragons with invisibility potions to facilitate a successful capture. They are a resourceful and credible threat. Their capture is imperative. They would fetch a high price at market and it would not only be a valuable service to the Lords, but will also be a major win for you and your operation.
Bring them to me, once they are secured, and I will see that they are transported to the stockade.

It was getting late and Pyreece had done whatever healing she could do. They searched for a place to rest undisturbed. They stayed for a couple of days and healed up quite a bit before heading off to Elredd. They arrived late in the afternoon. They were concerned that the town may have been waiting on them to show so they could be arrested. They entered the town without incident though. They began making their way to the Rudder as Brandy really wanted to tear into Ragnar's group. They came across some children playing in the street, about 6 of them. They were batting a ball around and it rolled up to the party. They shouted over, asking for someone to throw it back. Brandy obliged, tossing the ball back.
One of the boys asked if she could spare a silver piece for each of them. She gave the boy a gold piece. They were shocked. Seeing 5 more of them, Audra decided to give each of the them a gold as well. While she was doing that, a 7th one snuck in behind Elenor and was picking through her belongings. Elenor felt the poor attempt but the boy still got a little cheap necklace for his trouble before running away. The rest of the boys ran with him. Brandy wanted to chase them down, follow them so they did. Kipp and Audra took the lead.
They caught up to them in an alley. The kids scurried into small openings in the walls and disappeared. It was then that the first signs of crossbow bolts came flying at them. Kipp was hit with one of the poisoned bolts. He rushed one of the archers while Audra rushed another. The fight was on but it didn't last long. Audra was hit with one of the poisoned bolts as well. They caused the regular damage but also weakened their opponent. The thugs went down fast. Brandy tried to keep one alive to talk but all he would say was something about crossing someone. The name of this person or group did not escape his lips before Brandy ended him.
Audra wanted to try and get more information so she put a Goodberry into the mouth of the one she'd killed and tried to talk to him but his foul mouth got onto Brandy's last nerve and she ended him again. He wasn't going to tell them anything anyway. Two of the archers that had initially attacked them had climbed down through an opening into a well and disappeared. They moved to the opening and looked inside. They saw the rusty and slimy rungs of a ladder built into the wall leading down. They were considering their options when the session came to an abrupt end.
Please start the recorder.
Need to search the thieves we just killed.
Observation after reading the letter again: Dragons in the note must be the name of a select group of mercenaries for hire. Not literal Dragons. Maybe a thieves or assassins guild.
