Blackbird And The Sea Cave (Session 51)
January 25, 2025
Summary
The session begins in the Saltburner Orc fort with the group and their new friend, Ghost. They discussed the possibility of more Orcs being present in the cave below. After some healing, they ventured into the cave, led by Brandy, with Kipp and Ghost close behind. They heard the sounds of Orcs and of a woman in distress. As they approached, Brandy sees a fat Human and three Orcs tormenting a woman. Brandy walked up behind the fat human and said ,"Hey!". That brought all of the fun to a halt quickly as all eyes turned to look at the halfling. She added, "When you're done with the main course, do you want to try a treat?". The fat human replied, "Now you're my type, little lady! I'm going to sooo violate you!.". That's when the little lady lunged at him. They killed the human and the three orcs.
After the battle, they found the woman, a female Half-Orc, near a cell. She was weak and afraid. Kipp tried to help her. She was well-dressed but her clothes are now worn out. She called out for someone named Arne, who was in bad shape in the cell. Oglesby picked the lock, and the woman, named Uenza, explained that Arne was afflicted with an illness. Pyreece gave him a healing potion, but it only helped a little. Uenza told Arne that these people have killed the Orcs, which gets his attention.
Kipp searched for anything that might have caused Arne's illness but found nothing. Pyreece gave both a dose of healing, which helps her significantly but only barely improves Arne's health. Uenza explained that she has been with Arne for a few weeks and that he wasn't sick at first. The illness appeared about 5 or 6 days ago. Both of them had been whipped as well. Uenza recounted their time in a slave caravan in Highport, where they were liberated by a team but later recaptured by bounty hunters.
Uenza continued her story, explaining how she, Arne, and Marris stayed together while the others split up. Marris died from a trap, her screams attracting the Saltburner Orcs. They tried to help Marris but had to run when she died. Arne's condition worsened, and they were eventually captured. They were lashed every day for the past five days. Ghost asked if they can travel, and Arne told him he could walk if it meant getting out of this hellhole. Uenza was ready to go, and Ghost offered to help them get to Courwood.
Og asked Uenza about the slave lord who owned them. She mentioned a man named Sturm, also known as Dirk, who coordinated the slave transports. They didn't know if he was in charge but describe him as a rat-like figure. Og inquireed about who ran Highport, and Arne explained that they only know the insides of the prisons. The town is described as a rotten hellhole, and even their liberators looked vile. They often prayed to Trithereon for safety.
Ghost suggested they meet someone named Blackbird, who could help them. He adviseed them to avoid drawing attention and to come up with code names. The group adopts names like Bambi, Thumper, Rigby, Darik, Honey Badger, and Barry. He told hem to continue south and watch for a dock. It would look run down and there would be a boat there. They would know it's the right place when they saw the symbol of Trithereon. They stealth camped for the night with Honey Badger taking the first watch. She noticed small figures approaching. They fished but eventually left. The group woke the next morning prepared to head out.
Thumper casts Cure Disease on Arne, which partially healed him. After a second attempt, he was fully healed. Uenza is relieved and explained that they were not related or lovers but have been constant companions. The group traveled south and reached an old dock. They found a boat that looked run down but was actually in better condition than they thought. Ghost and Blackbird met them there, and Blackbird introduced himself. He explained their mission to free those in bondage and asked for their help.
Blackbird described the sea caves along the coast and the challenges they'd face. He mentioned that the creatures in the caves. How they couldn't see them until they were on top of them, how they resembled floating shadows. They lost a companion named Jem. The group agreed to help, and Blackbird explained more about the dangers they will face. He described the hidden excavation they'd found. The group prepared to navigate the tunnels and face the challenges ahead.
The group encountered various obstacles in the caves, including crabs and a Hypno Toad. They managed to overcome these challenges and continue their journey. They found a chimney-like structure with a rope ladder, but it broke when Honey Badger tried to climb it. They continue through the tunnels, noting that they'd moved up high enough that tide wouldn't reach them. They reached a tight spot with water flowing from the ceiling and crawled through it9.
This is where the session ended.

Detail
They started this session in the Saltburner Orc fort with their new friend Ghost. They discussed if there were more Orcs or if this was all of them. Ghost told them that there will be some in the cave below but he wasn't sure how many. They gathered outside the cave and did some healing. Audra had taken quite the beating. She was healed up quite a bit and Og got 6 points of healing as well. After that, they made their way in. Brandy led the way with Kipp and Ghost not far behind. They heard voices, the sounds of Orcs playing with their pray, and the sounds of a woman in distress. As they got closer, there was light below so everyone would be able to see.
When Brandy could see in the room, she saw one very fat Human and three Orcs pushing, groping, and beating on a woman. She wasn't small and frail but she was obviously weak and couldn't stand up to them. That didn't sit well with Brandy who walked into the room and marched up behind everyone and said ,"Hey!". That brought all of the fun to a halt quickly as all eyes turned to look at the halfling. She added, "When you're done with the main course, do you want to try a treat?". The fat human replied, "Now you're my type, little lady! I'm going to so violate you!.". That's when the little lady lunged at him. The fight was on. They hadn't noticed the rest of the group back in the entry way and focused on her. Before they knew it, the entire group swarmed them and killed them.
Once the battle was complete, they approached the woman now lying on the floor near the door to a cell. As they approached, they saw it was a female Half-Orc. She was cowering, obviously afraid, and appeared to be almost too weak to stand up. Kipp tried to calm her and offer her his help. He tried to asses her. She didn't wear tribal orc clothing but dressed as if she was well to do and from a city. The clothes were obviously worn out and ragged now though. She told him she was fine. She turned to the cell behind her and called out for someone named Arne. The man in there was in pretty bad shape and finally responded. Oglesby came over and picked the lock.
The woman told them not to touch him. When asked why, she told them that he was afflicted with some sort of illness. She rolled into the doorway and moved over to him and shook him and said, "Arne!", again. He barely moaned and was obviously very weak. Pyreece stepped in and gave him a dose of an extra healing potion. The woman told them that she didn't know what he had but he got worse every day. Pyreece could see he was very pale and had sores on his skin. The dose didn't heal him much but healed him a little. The woman told Arne that they had rescuers to which he replied, "Again?". She told him that they didn't just get them out, but that they'd killed the Orcs. That got his attention.
Kipp looked for anything that might have been used to make him sick. He didn't find anything. Pyreece gave an extra healing dose to the Half-Orc as well. That helped her quite a bit. She told her that she could heal the disease afflicting the man but needed rest to gain the ability to do that. The Half-Orc woman finally told them her name was Uenza. She told him that she had been with him a few weeks now and he wasn't sick at first. She'd been around him a lot and she hadn't gotten sick so maybe it was not very contagious. She said this illness came on about 5 or 6 days ago. Both of them had been whipped as well.
Uenza told them a story about their time in the slave caravan. There were a bunch of them at first. They were in a slave caravan in Highport a few days ago, being made ready to be carted out of town on the slave road. A team snuck in and unlocked their cage while they were parked and the caravan people were drinking and had their backs turned to them. She thought they were going south. They snuck 8 of us out and they took us to a safe house. The town was searched vigorously and they feared they would be recaptured but they hid us well. They kept us well fed. As things died down, their liberators tried to get them out of Highport. There was a hole in the border wall. Just outside the wall, hunters were waiting. We were allowed to run, that was part of the game. They gave us a head start and then hunted us down.
Arne, Marris and I stayed together while everyone else split up. They made their way west and thought they had eluded the bounty hunters. Then Marris died when she became impaled on a trap high up in the hills. Her screams were like a beacon for the Saltburner Orcs to come looking. We tried to help Marris but she was beyond hope. After she died, we ran. By then, they had our scent and had us surrounded in a few hours. Arne was slowed because of this affliction. Over the next few days he got worse and it was clear he was dying. I tried pleading for aid. Pleading turned to anger and anger turned to insults. For that, we got lashes, everyday for the past five days.
Ghost asked if they were able to travel. Arne said he could walk if it would get him out of this hellhole. Ghost and Audra assisted him. Uenza was ready to go. When ghost asked what happened, she told him they were citizens of Courwood. It's to the west beyond the Suss Forest. Ghost told her that he could get passage on a boat from Elredd to Fax. They have people that could transport them in small boats to Courwood. She was thankful to be free and able to leave. They had been sold and escaped and got recaptured and brought back to Highport only to go through all of it again.
Og asked if she could tell them who the slave lord was that owned them and was going to sell them? They were never owned. There was a guy named…looking back to Arne, he thought a moment and named the person as Sturm. There was a person named Sturm, some called him Dirk. They think he had two names. He appeared to be the guy that coordinated the slave transports. Whether he was in charge or not, they didn't know. He came by our original holding location and gave us a look and assigned us out to be transported. Deemed us worthy I suppose. Og asked if he was a warrior or a merchant or just a scumbag. They told him that he was no warrior. "He was more like a fink or a rat…yeah a rat. I'd say he looked like a rat.", Arne said.
Og asked if he managed to pickup on who runs Highport? Arne told him that they only knew the insides of the prisons they kept them in. If we moved, it was in the dead of night and the town looked like a rotten hellhole. Everyone we saw was vile. Even our liberators looked the part. As they turned to look at Ghost, he seemed to be dressed like a shitty dude. Uenza said, no one there looked like you guys. The rescuers wore masks and they wouldn't identify themselves. They told them that if they were found out, they would be executed. They often offered thankful prayers to Trithereon for our safety. They used nicknames like Pandora or Fang. They remembered one was called Stinkbug. Ghost raised an eyebrow at the name Stinkbug. That's about all of the information they had.
When they were asked if there was anything else they could tell them about Highport. They added that it was like the worst slums of Courwood or any major town. It was like that everywhere they went in that town. Uenza added that what she had learned in school was that Highport was a fairly major seaport. What she saw was no seaport. It was like Detroit. Brandy said, "At least Og will fit right in there!". Ghost said, "Highport has fallen on hard times in the past couple of years. It is a shell of what it once was.".
It was time to get them out of there. Ghost told them that he knew someone that they needed to meet, "We call him Blackbird. On second thought, it may be better if I bring him to you.". He added, "If you stroll into Highport looking like that, ", he pointed at the armor and the weapons, "especially Pyreece with her holy attire, "You are going to draw a lot of unwanted attention. You are going to look like a bunch of do-gooders from Hardbeat or worse, perspective buyers. Come up with a name we can use for each of you. I can meet you south of here. There is an old boat dock. Meet me there, tomorrow when the sun sets, and I can bring Blackbird to you. If you want to do something about these people, yeah, that would be amazing.".
Og said, "Yeah we do want to do something about these people. They have some friends of ours that we are going to get back. ". Ghost asked Pyreece if she thought she could heal Arne. She told him that she thought she could. He suggested that Uenza and Arne stay with them tonight and Pyreece try to cure him. Then when they meet tomorrow they can take them back. Ghost was going back to town to meet his contact. If the group headed south about a days journey, they will find an old boat dock. It's in crap shape. There is a pile of stones near by in the shape of the symbol of Trithereon. He looked at Pyreece and said, "You would recognize it!".
Pyreece asked him what it looked like. He gave her a quizzical look and then described it as three "L"'s proportionally placed in a circle with the tops touching. He drew it out on the ground as he described it. He told her that he thought her garb was unusual. He asked if she was a follower of Celestian. She told him that she was not from this land. She is from another land and in that land she worshiped and followed Seluné. He was quite surprised to hear all of that. He said, "You are outlanders!". Pyreece told him, that was as good name to describe us as any. Ghost said he had heard of outlanders but had never met any.
Pyreece added that she knew Seluné was a god here but by what name, she didn't know. Ghost said, "As much as I want to ask you questions, you have told me too much already. Somehow I expected you to look different, like it would be obvious. That's good! You won't have any problems blending in.". Pyreece said she thought that if the same gods are in each realm, it would stand to reason that the people might look similar. Ghost brought up that the people from across the sea look different. "You can tell that they are from across the sea. There are regional differences!", he said. Brandy said, "Well I know one thing. The assholes from where we came from are the same as the assholes here. That's a commonality around everybody!". Ghost replied, "Well, that's disheartening!".
Ghost came up with the name Orc Slayers, as a group name. He bid them farewell saying he will see them tomorrow night at sunset. He set off and then the Orc Slayers set out as well. Audra and Uenza helped Arne walk. They headed out to the road. It was around midnight. Audra adopted the code name of Bambi while Pyreece adopted the code name Thumper. Elenor took on the code name of Rigby. Kipp adopted the code name of Darik! Brandy took on the code name of Honey Badger while Oglesby simply used his alter ego of Barry. They make their way to a point in the road where they moved off of the road and up a little rise. They stealth camped there. Honey Badger took first watch.
After a couple of hours on watch, Honey Badger started hearing what sounded like hushed talking. Watching, she saw a couple of small figures walking down the road. They were carrying long sticks. They moved up along the shore and started fishing. They had some success. After a couple of hours, they finished up and returned north. They eventually left her sight. She woke up Darik and explained what had happened. While they were talking, it became obvious that Uenza snored. When Darik's watched ended, the sun had come up and they started getting ready to head out.
Thumper cast a Cure Disease on Arne. It seemed to have a partial effect. He appeared to get better, but not healed. She tried it again and this time it seemed to fully remove all signs of the disease. He appeared to be fully healed. Uenza was very happy to see him restored. She wasn't sure he was going to make it. She pointed out that they weren't related and they were not lovers but that they had been constant companions and the thought of him wasting away was horrible. Seeing him cured gave her hope for their futures. Thumper also cast some heals on Darik and Barry. They set out south again.
The company traveled for most of the day. The road had been much higher than the shoreline. As they got closer to the dock, the land had lowered closer to the same level as the shoreline. They came upon a dock in the water. It was old and looked to have seen better days. The boat tied to the dock also looked like a less than desirable seagoing vessel. To the west was something like an old burned out homestead. They looked around the area for the symbol of Trithereon. Darik looked for recent footprints. The main thing he noticed was that the road was only lightly travelled now but it had been travelled a lot in the past though. Honey Badger finally spotted the symbol, kind of blended into the sand and the area. If she hadn't been looking for it, She wouldn't have noticed it.
Honey Badger checked the dock and though it looked pretty iffy, it was actually not very bad. There were fish on the dock that had rotted. The boat looked serviceable but wouldn't stand up to any rigorous activity. They were supposed to meet Ghost and Blackbird here but there was no sign of them. Uenza and Arne didn't like he looks of the boat. Uenza could be heard saying, "No…No way are they getting us on that boat!". Arne was more practical. "I don't care! If it gets us out of here, I'll get on that boat.". Uenza said, "He said it was a Sloop. Didn't he say it was a Sloop?". Pyreece reminded them that it was to be a smaller boat that would take them to the Sloop. Two figures emerged from the rocks. They had been very well hidden.
Ghost greeted the Orc Slayers and introduced them to Blackbird. He was a dark skinned, long haired, human. He took a moment to look over the whole group. He finally spoke, "Ghost told me of your skills and heroic hearts. That is a rare combination in this part of Flanaess. I am called Blackbird and I have a proposal for you. First I must know, no one is here without motivation. You are either predator or prey, and you have the look of predator. What is it you hunt?". Honey Badger answered, "Our friends! They were kidnapped and brought here.". Barry asked if they'd heard her name, "Dame Gold! We think they've taken her to Highport. We are searching for her now and kicking the butts of as many of the slavers as we can along the way.".
Blackbird chuckled at that. "You have a strong heart!", he said. "Ghost told you a little about us. While I am able, I seek to free those in bondage to the dark lords. We are not mercenaries, no. Everyone deserves life and the right to choose their own place in the world. Slavery, tyranny, must be opposed and overthrown, even if it means my life is forfeit. We are servants of the church of Trithereon. Do not let our garb fool you. We are dedicated to the god of freedom and liberty just as any priest. Did you think all servants of the church wore priestly robes. No, sometimes a more clandestine approach is called for. The church of Trithereon in Highport was destroyed and it's clergy martyred. We now operate outside the purview of the towns masters. Though we are few, we are skilled at locating and liberating the enslaved, but they grow wiser and more watchful. With each successful rescue, out enemy becomes more vigilant. Despite my bravado at our meager success, working from the shadows, sometimes strength is also required! That is where we fail but you could be an answered prayer to many.".
Looking at Thumper in her armor, he said, "Ghost said you were an outlander!". Looking at her holy symbols, he asked who she served. Thumper responded, "My deity is Seluné, goddess of the moon and light!". He acknowledged that the name was foreign to him. Blackbird said, "Like Celestian?". Pyreece said, "It may very well be that they are one and the same, with different names in different worlds.". Blackbird said, "Be that as it may, a group of escaped slaves hides in the city now, because they cannot flee. The gates are watch. The perimeter is full of spies and bounty hunters are looking for them. They need a secret route out of town, and I think you are the folks to find and clear it for them. I do not know if your friends are among them. We do not ask many questions nor do we answer many. We simply attempt to effect a rescue. Secrecy is vital for us to operate. If captured, resistance to the slave lords is going to be futile. Even if you can endure all manners of torture, they have ways to simply pluck the information from your brain and leave you a withered husk.".
Blackbird began to pace a bit. He was warming to them and his subject as he continued. His passion is undeniable. "There are a number of sea caves along the coast beyond the city walls. I believe some connect to the surface above, within the city. I've already explored several chambers and tunnels that link the basement of an abandoned villa, where the refugees hide, to the sewers below the city. I believe a path can be traced all the way through. I know the caves are not empty. The creatures there do not sleep. We cannot see them either. But their vision penetrates the darkness and we are discovered despite our best efforts. We have lost one companion there. She was called Jem, and she was truly outrageous. Ghost echoes his sentiment, "Truly, truly, truly outrageous!". She may yet live but we fear she is lost.
Blackbird asked, "Will you do these things? Will you help these people? Help these long suffering victims return to their lives and loved ones. If successful, we can complete our mission, and you would have your path into the city bypassing the prying eyes of the city guard.". The Orc Slayers agreed to help. Blackbird added, "It will be dangerous but at least you can fight what we cannot even see, or at least we cannot hide from.". Honey Badger asked about what was hiding down there. Blackbird told her that from the sea cave side, sea creatures, generally nothing too dangerous there. When you get to like the sewer level, Then it becomes a bit more treacherous.
Blackbird added, "We tried coming down from inside the safehouse we have, and we found a hidden excavation, just as chance would have it, we didn't know it was there. We found it after we moved into this place. We started exploring this and there were several tunnels. One we followed went down into a darkened chamber and we were attacked by a ghostly sort of thing. Our lights barely illuminated it before it was upon us. We heard Jem scream…we were used to hiding and not being discovered and suddenly we were discovered so our course of action when discovered is to get away. We are not built for fighting.". The group noted that he was slender and built to hide but he didn't have the build of a fighter.
Barry asked, "Could you tell if the figure appeared shaped like a human or bigger or smaller?". Blackbird told them it was roughly humanoid in shape, but it floated and had black…almost like a shadow. Like picture a living shadow. Honey Badger told them about the crazy magical bitch that threw black stuff at them. Then we had to deal with a Blue Dragon. It went downhill from there. Blackbird asked about the Blue Dragon, if that happened in the outland. Brandy told him it did. They Slayers debated if they had killed a Shadow along the way but no one could remember.
Blackbird was surprised by their response. He told them that he had expected to have to talk them into it. "I'm grateful that you would take on such a thing! Your friends must be very important to you.", he added. Honey Badger added, "We have to get into the city anyway. This is better than through the front gate.". Ghost got Uenza and Arne noting that Arne looked way better than he did the last time he saw him. Ghost added, "Yes! This Seluné has performed an amazing transformation.". Blackbird told them that if they made it to Highport, hopefully he'd be there to greet them. He told them that he'll try to be at the tunnel where they were attacked and hopefully if they are attacked, he'll be right there.
Bambi asked if they could have some clothing and stuff to help them fit in when they got to town. Blackbird said he thought he could arrange that. He added, "You are going to look like crap when we do it though.". As they turned to the boat, it was obvious that Uenza wanted nothing to do with it. Blackbird told them that they were getting into that boat. There is a Sloop two or three miles off the coast that they will take them out to. He told them that they would paddle out to it in the dark, put you on the Sloop, and the Sloop will take them towards Fax. He told them that this little boat is in better repair than it appears. They've actually disguised it to look run down and in poor condition to prevent people from taking it.
Blackbird told the Slayers a little about how the coastline works. Highport is down in this little bowl like area high upon the cliffs. There will be some high cliffs and then the road will descend to the town. There are several sea caves in the cliffs. They will use the Trithereon symbol to mark the cave. He described the cave and how it was different than the others around it. It was probably a half a mile west of Highport. You'll be able to see the walls and some of the structures of the city of Highport already. If you stay at the beach level, you should be outside of the view of the guards or the watch. Follow this road. As soon as you see any trace of Highport, get off the road.
He described some landmarks for them as well. A river crossing is one such landmark. He described a bridge and told them that when they see the bridge, go down to the beach and work your way along the rock wall another mile or so and you'll come to the cave we are talking about. We'll take them out to the ship tonight and I'll be back here in the morning. I'll make my way south. If you guys can't find it, I'll make my way to the cave entrance and if I see you along the way, then I can help you form there. Uenza, Arne, Ghost, and Blackbird climb down into the boat. They set off out into the sea.
The Orc Slayers rested that night and then started out in the morning. They moved down the road until the eventually reached the sea caves. They finally found a cove with the sea cave that Blackbird had spoken of. It was around 5:00 in the evening. Kipp had been paying attention to the tides. It was still low tide but the tide was starting to come in. The water was just about level with the cave entrance. Honey Badger wasn't happy that the sea water was making her hair frizz. Darik slipped into the cave to see if there was space to stand inside should the tide roll in. He heard the roar of fast moving water, sort of like rapids.
While he was looking in the cave, they were attacked from all sides by about 4 crabs. They weren't particularly dangerous but the party decided that with a little melted butter they would taste great. Or they could have a nice dinner later cooking them into a nice chowder. They finished them off in a few rounds with minimal damage to Darik. They collected the meat and continued on. Darik moved into the cave There was a pool directly inside. There was a waterfall to the left and looking at the waterlines on the walls, it was pretty apparent that the opening to the outside is completely blocked when the tide is in. On the far side of the room, there was an opening. On the right side of the chamber was a more colorful area of seaweed. It was pretty to look at.
When asked, Darik thought the tide would rise, 8 to twelve feet when it came in. The tide is rising and will probably come up quite a bit in the next few hours. Darik came back and collected Honey Badger as the water was still too deep for her. Bambi and Pyreece removed their armor and put it in the bag of holding to prevent themselves from drowning. Bambi, noticed that something was touching or even grabbing at her feet. She managed to not look down at whatever it was as she backed away from it. After she backed away from it, she looked back at the seaweed area and spotted, what looked like, eyes looking back. She suddenly stopped moving and just starred at the eyes. She was paralyzed by the gaze of a Hypno Toad.
The others looked ahead through the archway into another chamber with yet another pool. They had to crouch down to enter the room. Darik moved ahead to figure out what would be the best way to go. There were two openings. He moved to check the first opening. Honey Bader was still on his back. Thumper noticed that Bambi wasn't with them and said something out loud about her not being there. She turned to go back out to the first cave. Meanwhile Darik felt something stinging at his leg. He felt something swim out from beneath his leg as he stepped down and then felt the stinging sensation but it didn't seem to have any affect on him except to cause a little damage. A stingray shot off into the distance and disappeared.
He looked down the tunnel on the western wall and saw that it gradually inclined and she could hear the sound of trickling water. Thumper made it back out to Bambi as she called out once again for everyone to wait. As she tried to shake Bambi out of it. The sands beneath Bambi's feet shifted and she fell to one side. As the water reached her face, it broke the gaze and snapped her out of it. She told them not to look at the seaweed stuff. The others did look and managed not to be affected by their gaze. They saw fish swimming around and as they reach the seaweed, they would suddenly stop in place and the seaweed would reach out and snatch them.
Kipp began to move up the small passage some ninety feet at about a thirty degree angle. He came to an open area with a chimney like structure, at least a couple of stories tall. There were large and small rocks scattered on the floor where they had fallen from the walls above. High above, large stones were precariously wedged in a narrow spot in the chute, leaving only a small crawlspace and the darkness beyond. The remains of a rope ladder hung from the crawlspace but the end was fifteen feet up and well out of reach. There was a trickle of water running down the walls. The tunnel continued further ahead of them.
They called back to everyone else to move up and join them. The rope ladder above looked old and didn't appear to be in good shape. Darik lifted Honey Badger on his hands above his head then hosted her into the air. She reached for the rope as she reached the second or third rung up and the rope just snapped. Bambi had moved into position to help catch should the rope break. She and Darik managed to safely catch her. They continued on down the little tunnel. Thumper had noticed a while back that the waterline didn't come up this high in this tunnel. The tide coming in shouldn't reach them here.
They reached a tight spot. Water came out of the ceiling and drifted down the floor back towards where they were. They got down and crawled through it.
