Wiki of The Dungeoneering Crew

This session started with the party backing away from the ravine with the bridge. They began taking cover as they'd heard something large coming from the south. They could hear it was coming quickly. Under the cover of brush, they waited to see what it was. It was a troll. No, there were two trolls. They sniffed the air as if they were following a smell. That smell must have been the party. They positioned themselves and prepared to fight. A third troll showed up. It was about then that Kipp fired on one of them. Brandy opened fire and so did Audra. Selson moved up and asked Oglesby what they were and what to do. He told her they were trolls and they really don't like fire.

On their next round, Audra ran up to engage one of them in melee. The second troll moved to attack her as well. She took a lot of damage. The third troll moved up to attack Kipp. He also took a lot of damage. Oglesby moved to help Kipp, using his short sword to attack the beast. Selson teleported behind that one and hit it with a Burning Hands spell. Audra finally collapsed after taking more damage. The Trolls were very tough to kill but they finished them off. As they began to light torches to set them ablaze, fire arrows came out of nowhere and hit the two trolls that were yet unlit. Banderas, Pete, Lync, Scoots, and Sneakz came out of the woods. They introduced themselves and seemed to think that both parties could work together to get across the bridge and escape past Daresh's army and not get caught up in front of it.

Big Tuna recalled hearing the name Banderas linked to an outlaw group. He questioned whether or not they could be trusted. Banderas reminded him that they didn't fire on them, just the trolls. He felt that warranted a little trust. They offered to have the party return with them to their camp and rest before attempting to cross the bridge. They wanted to join forces for the crossing. Before they headed back to their camp, they followed the troll tracks back to their cave. They found a very nice chest in a very smelly cave. It was trapped but Oglesby took care of that. He easily picked it even though it's lock was unusual. Inside the chest was a pile of gold coins. They gave 100 coins each to the 5 of Banderas group from the treasure. They kept the rest.

They followed the Banderas group back to the camp. There were five more members of the Banderas group back at the camp. One of those was a Gnoll. That got Kipp's interest and drew his focus. He approached him first with his swords out. He asked Banderas why there was a Gnoll traveling with them. Banderas let him know that Hrog was his second in command and could be trusted. Kipp put away his swords but stayed very watchful of this Gnoll. Kipp set his tent up away from the others and sat just inside the door sharpening his blade and watching the Gnoll. Sneakz took him some food and he thanked him and ate it. Before they rested, Pyreece did a lot of healing. They rested.

After a full rest, they gathered their groups together and headed for the bridge. They approached the bridge believing there were 20 or so Hobgoblins and several of the flying variety. It seemed likely they would be fired on as they crossed. Since Pyreece and Audra had the big body shields, they decided to cross first as they had a lot of shield to hide behind. The rest followed or lined up behind them ready to fire on anything that showed up. As they neared the other side, they saw many Hobgoblins pour out of a cave and run forward to attack. Pyreece and Audra stopped and formed a human wall. Three of the hobgoblins reached them and attacked. They held their ground and began the assault. Some of the flying variety of Hobgoblins attacked.

It was about this time that a giant, two headed Ettin came out of the cave. As he approached the group, Elenor cast an Hypnotic Image spell made up of colorful lights. The Ettin and one of the Hobgblins froze and starred at the lights. It was then that a huge troll came up from the south. Some of the Hobgoblins diverted to attacking it. None of them seemed to be able to hit it and Audra and Pyreece noticed along the way that it was swinging wildly as if it was try to get their attention. That was when they figured out it was the result of a spell. Initially, Audra thought that Orion, another member of Banderas team probably cast it. It was a little further into the fight before she realized that Selson was the one that created the image. It took quite a few rounds but they whittled them down and eventually put them all down.

They searched the bodies of the enemy and didn't get much off of them. They did get a lot of arrows though. Banderas seemed eager to go but reminded them, there was a cave and maybe there was treasure of some sort left behind. They decided to search it, next session.
