Session Summary

We started the evening off with trying to determine what our next steps should be. We've all decided that the Gulthias tree was the next likely target as we've learned that the druids still appear to be there and pose a threat to the winery. After a long rest, Dain asked about the issue with Snoggly and Kyana not feeling good or feeling not quite right. While discussing it, in front of the Martikovs, they learned of the death of the ravens that were held by Bada Lysaga. What they learned was that in the battle against Bada and her house, the ravens were twice in spots where fireballs went off. Unfortunate as it was, they were all killed.

Davian took this very hard and had to leave the table. Adrian stayed behind and we explained ourselves. He explained that the ravens, like Strahd, are a part of the land. They are revered. Hearing of that many dying was very hard on Davian, on all of the Marikov's. We asked if there was anything we could do to atone for this unfortunate situation. Dain specifically asked if there was a place we should go or someone we should see about this situation. Adrian only answered that yes, I was on the right path but he could say no more about it. Seeing as that was all we were going to get out of him, we took off for the tree and the druids around it.

It took us only a few hours to get to the hill upon which stood the vile creature. We were careful to climb the hill by moving up the path and made our way to the summit without having to do battle with any of the guards along the trail. Haldar scouted and found six of the blight creatures nearby the tree. We approached the tree with Haldar, Misty, and Rinn stealthing forward and taking up positions for an ambush. Once in place, Rinn messaged the others to come forward. As they approached, Dain being his usual loud self, caught the attention of the creatures guarding the tree. They began moving to attack. Haldar, Misty and Rinn attacked from their hidden positions and managed to take out two of the blight creatures, one of the small ones and one of their larger ones, before they even knew we were here.

The battle was on. It didn't take long before we cleared out the first wave of defenders. Our attacks then focused on the tree itself. A fireball, a lot of firebolts, arrows, swords, and even axe were used against it. It's very sturdy and it was unclear if we were having any real impact on it. We decided that maybe we should go below the tree to see if there was a better way to handle this. Before we could go, Dain grabbed the Great Axe sticking out of the tree. It was determined to be a weapon with special abilities when used against plant based creatures. As we were preparing to head down the ladder to the area beneath the tree, more creatures showed up to fight. They were those dirty ragged looking people that usually accompanied the druids. There were a great many of them.

As the battle started, a Druid did appeared and cast a spell which resulted in vines springing fourth from the ground and latching on the Kyana. Misty managed to avoid it. Dain moved to a position between the Druid and Kyana. Zanfyr brought lightening down on the head of the Druid. A few well placed attacks, the Druid was down. There was a spiritual weapon attacking another of the lesser beings. Misty used shadow to move from one part of the battlefield to a spot behind some enemy, and attacked. A moment after their first Druid fell, another showed up across the field, and yet another showed up at another point on the field.

And thus, this session ended.
