Session Details

We picked up in swamp area again. The witch has gone up into the clouds again. We are encircled in a toxic cloud about 20 feet in diameter and 40 feet tall. We have rolled initiatives.

Misty is first. She takes 21 points of poison damage, just being in this cloud when her turn started. She ran up the stairs and jumped from the building, clearing the fog. As she turned to take in the whole scene, she noticed shadows moving in the dense fog that has plagued us every since we entered this cursed swamp. She finally saw that what was making its way toward them, were blight creatures. She attempted to hide from them.

Rinn began the turn with the same 21 points of poison damage. He then scooped up Kyana and made his way from the cloud and clears it with plenty of room to spare. Dain is resistant to poison and because of that, he only takes 10 points of poison damage. He scoops up Zanfyr as he makes his way to the edge and though he doesn’t clear the cloud, he does manage to toss Zanfyr clear. Haldar takes his 21 points of poison damage. He makes his way out of the cloud and turns to search the sky for the witch. He doesn’t see her but holds his action in case she returns. Snoggly takes his 21 points of damage and gets out of the fog as well.

The fog rolls forward toward Dain, Rinn, Kyana, and Zanfyr. Dain is covered again. The others are just out of range. The witch drops down out of the cloud but remains about 50 feet up in the air. Misty and Haldar both see her. Haldar releases his held action. Arrows fly and much damage occurs. She is not happy about that. She says, “You dare touch the mother of this world?”. Then she answers his assault with a bolt of some sort of negative energy. Though the damage was severe, he still stands. Snoggly also let loose with a held action, and casts a fireball at her. She rises back up into the clouds and vanishes.

As the blights move in, they start whipping out vines and latching onto nearby creatures. Snoggly uses a Shield spell to deflect a vine meant for him. With Zanfyr, vines came out of the ground and attempted to pull him down. It fails to grab him. Kyana (Kamala) moves to get out of the way of the cloud. Upon stopping, she fires at one of the creatures. Another creature attempts to restrain Haldar and Snoggly, succeeding on Snoggly. Thorney vines reach out to grab the Misty and miss. Zanfyr wild shapes into a dire wolf and moves away, dodging a whipping blight, and clears further away from the cloud. Misty is attacked and missed. Another whipping vine reached for Haldar and hit him and not only is he damaged, he is grappled as well.

Misty attacks the bight next to her and destroys it. She moves to the next one and hits it as well. Rinn moves further from the cloud and throws a firebolt as one of the blights, hitting it. Dain moves toward Rinn, in an attempt to move far enough to stay out of the cloud. With high resistance, he only took 6 points of damage this time. Haldar makes a strength save and breaks free of the blight and moves through the hallway in the building, avoiding the cloud, and gets to the other end of it. He then attacks a blight. He fires and kills one.

Snoggly attempts to break free of the vines. He breaks out and seeing the many blights around him, decided to drop a fireball. He sculpts himself out of the damage. Two of the blights drop and two others were severely damaged. He then moves behind a wall for cover. Witchiepoo pops out of the clouds again and casts a fireball, centered on Haldar but reaches out to all of us. Everyone survives but Haldar. He falls, being severely weakened already.

Frustration mounts as witchiepoo returns to the clouds above her before we can respond. Kyana casts healing word and heals Haldar and then feeds him a potion. Zanfyr moves further away from the cloud. The blight near Zanfyr attempts to entangle him again but he manages to avoid being snared. Misty pull three people back into a bubble of darkness that she casts and hands out potions to help them recover. Rinn casts “Long Strider” on Dain and then moves 30 feet away from the cloud, towards Zanfyr and the Blight. Dain follows. The DM points out that we are being recorded in stereo now. It is a much better recording than I usually have to work with.

Haldar moves himself into the hallway area and hides, waiting on witchiepoo’s next return. Snoggly moves a little bit and throws a firebolt at a blight making its way toward him. Witchiepoo returns from the clouds overhead. She sees the darkness area and fires another fireball at the area. Haldar manages to be just outside of the area. Misty is down. The darkness dissipates. Kyana is still standing. Witchiepoo moves back to the clouds. Kyana stabilizes Misty and prepares to cast a spell should witchiepoo return. Zanfyr attacks a shrub and hits it. Rinn firebolts the blight in front of Zanfyr and moves to a position to be able to offer more help. Dain fires two crossbow bolts into the blight on Zanfyr and kills it. He moves further down the field.

Haldar moves to the front of the building and hides there in wait for witchiepoo to return. Snoggly backs away a little further from the blight on him and firebolts it but misses. Witchiepoo drops down from the clouds again. And Kyana casts a spell against her and misses but recovers with an inspiration and rolls poorly on the damage. Haldar now gets advantage on his attack. He casts “hunters mark” on her and he hits her. She drops her Cloud Kill and casts it again and flies back up into the mists. Haldar, through his hunter’s mark, senses that she is leaving the area, as if she were on the run.

Zanfyr moves around the cloud and makes his way forward. A blight moves to entangle Kyana, capturing Misty as well. Misty is still down. Rinn fails his save from the poison of the cloud and collapses. Haldar fails and falls again. Snoggly backs up some more and firebolts the blight again. This time it dies. Kyana is restrained and attempts to break free but fails. She holds an action to cast a spell in case Witchiepoo returns. Zanfyr attempts to make his way forward, avoiding blights and the cloud. A blight moves to attack Kyana and she goes down.

Misty is still down, Rinn succeeds on a death save. Dain uses his lay on hands ability to give Rinn back ten hit points. Then he moves to get closer to the blight creature. Haldar succeeds on his death save. Snoggly moves back toward the group, avoiding the cloud. Kyana fails a death save. With a roar in the distance, we see a giant creature move into view, it’s about 140 feet away. It’s a T-Rex. Zanfyr moves into an area of entanglement to attack a blight creature and fails to stay free of it. I believe the response was “Son-of-a-bitch”. He is attacked by a blight creature but missed.

Misty is still down. Rinn moves closer to the blight creature and takes a shot at it and hits it. Dain moves to Kyana and casts a cure wounds on her. Haldar succeeds on his next death save. Snoggly can see the form of the T-Rex. He moves to the door of the building. Kyana is up and moves to Misty and pours a potion into Misty to get her back up. Kyana succeeds on the strength save and moves into the building. The blight takes one final shot at Kyana as she fled. The T-Rex stomps forward.

Misty breaks free of the blight and kills it. She also moves into the building. Rinn hears the T-Rex, moves towards it, and is finally able to catch a glimps if it. He finds a place to crouch and hide. Dain moves into the building to hide as well. Haldar fails a death save. Snoggly grabs Haldar and drags him into the building. Kyana casts spare the dying on Haldar. Witchiepoo returns for another chance to finish off the party. A fireball is sent into the party. Everyone but Zanfyr is together for the hit. Everyone but Zanfyr and Dain are down. Dain feigns death in hopes that she will believe she has succeeded in killing everyone and will not return.

Zanfyr moves to Kyana and casts a cure wounds on her. Misty critical fails her death save. Rinn fails a death save. Dain sits up and casts a cure wounds on Rinn. Haldar fails his death save. Snoggly succeeds. Kyana casts sparing the dying on Haldar and casts a healing word on Misty. Misty is back up. About this time, Witchiepoo returns for a another final parting shot with a cloud kill. Misty, Kyana, Rinn, and Dain drop. Haldar Is back at making death saves. Snoggly takes a failed death save. Zanfyr is still standing. He moves to grab Dain and drag him out of the cloud and casts a cure wounds no him.

We shouldn’t have taken our damage from the cloud kill until our turns. Who came after Witchiepoo. I think Kyana and Zanfyr. If that is the case, Dain hasn’t taken damage from the cloud kill and therefore didn’t need the cure wounds after Zanfyr dragged him from the cloud. He never took the damage from the cloud kill. Everyone else will drop as they will have turns before anyone can remove them. At least that's what I think happens.
